SCOTT E. BORIS: NAFI-CFEI – Waterbury, CT

Scott Boris holds a master’s degree in fire science from the University of New Haven. An active lieutenant in the Bridgeport Fire Department, he is also a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator through the National Association of Fire Investigators. Scott is a court-qualified expert witness in the state of Connecticut, as well as an attendant of both the National Fire Academy and the International Association of Arson Investigators seminars.

 

KENNETH W. CHRISTENSEN: IAAI-CFI // NAFI-CFEI, CVFI – Danbury, CT

Ken Christensen is a Certified Fire Investigator through the International Association of Arson Investigators and a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator and Certified Vehicle Fire Investigator through the National Association of Fire Investigators. Ken served 30 years with the Connecticut State Police, the last 20 of which were spent as a detective in the Fire and Explosion Unit. He has also handled two accelerant detection canines in the last 12 years.

Ken has a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration from Western Connecticut State University and an Associate of Science in Law Enforcement from Manchester Community College. He is a court-qualified expert at both the state and the federal level. In addition, Ken is a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators, the Connecticut Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators, the National Association of Fire Investigators, and the Connecticut Fire Marshals Association.

 

ROBERT A. AMMANN: IAAI-CFI // NAFI-CFEI – Long Island, NY

Robert Ammann is a Certified Fire Investigator through the International Association of Arson Investigators, and a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator through the National Association of Fire Investigators. His fire service career spans 25 years in New York City and Nassau County. He retired as a fire marshal for the New York City Fire Department in 2006 and is a court-qualified expert witness.

 

BRUCE W. MACKAY: IAAI-CFI // NAFI-CVFI – Portsmouth, RI

Bruce MacKay is a Certified Fire Investigator through the International Association of Arson Investigators and a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator through the National Association of Fire Investigators. He has over 25 years of experience in the fire service with the Holden Fire Department. He is a court-qualified expert witness in the determination of fire origin and cause. With over 30 years of experience in the HVAC field, Bruce also offers a wealth of knowledge regarding electrical, heating, refrigeration, and ventilation equipment. He holds a certification as a Universal Technician for refrigerant transition and recovery.

 

MICHAEL E. HENNESSY: IAAI-CFI // NAFI-CFEI, CVFI – Director of Professional Development & Senior Fire Analyst – Woburn, MA

Mike Hennessy is a Certified Fire Investigator through the International Association of Arson Investigators and a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator and Certified Vehicle Fire Investigator through the National Association of Fire Investigators. He has been with NEFCO Fire Investigations since 1995 and was the first fire official in Massachusetts to become certified as a fire investigator by the International Association of Arson Investigators. Mike has testified at criminal and civil trials and completed hundreds of fire investigations over the course of his career. He has an Associate of Science in Fire Science from Middlesex Community College.

 

MICHAEL R. NOLAN: IAAI-CFI // NAFI-CVFI – Vice President of Fire Operations – Wakefield, RI

Michael Nolan currently serves as Vice President of Fire Operations for NEFCO. He earned his Criminal Justice degree at Roger Williams College and took additional coursework at the University of Rhode Island, leading to the successful completion of a two-semester course in Criminal Investigation and Scientific Evidence. In addition, Michael has participated in hundreds of hours of fire investigation training, which led to him becoming a Certified Fire Investigator through the International Association of Arson Investigators, as well as a Certified Vehicle Fire Investigator through the National Association of Fire Investigators. He has currently accumulated over 20 years of fire investigative experience between his law enforcement career and his work with NEFCO. Michael’s experience also includes volunteering as a firefighter with the Kingston Fire Department in Rhode Island and serving in the United States Army. He is also presently an instructor at the Institute of Fire Science.

 

JOSEPH G. KOTORA, SR.: IAAI-CFI, CFI(V), CECT // NAFI-CFEI, CVFI // ASE-Certified Mechanic – East Brunswick, NJ

Joe Kotora is a Certified Fire Investigator and Certified Evidence Collection Technician through the International Association of Arson Investigators and a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator and Certified Vehicle Fire Investigator through the National Association of Fire Investigators. He also has a Motor Vehicle Fire Credential Endorsement through the International Association of Arson Investigators. Additionally, Joe is a Certified Mechanic through the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence and holds licenses as a fire inspector, housing code official, fire protection official, and inspector of hotels and multiple dwellings.

In the public sector, Joe actively serves as a fire marshal for the Borough of Helmetta. With more than 25 years of experience in the fire service, he has received multiple commendations at the state and local levels.

Joe earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial/Vocational Education from Trenton State College. He is also a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators, the National Association of Fire Investigators, the New Jersey State Fire Prevention Association, the International Association of Bomb Technicians and Investigators, the Middlesex County Fire Prevention Association, and the National Fire Officers Association.
