BRET CAMPBELL: IAAI/CFI, Tetonia, ID

Bret Campbell is a Certified Fire Investigator through the International Association of Arson Investigators, as well as a Certified Fire Instructor Level I and Certified Firefighter Levels I and II through the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Science as well as his Associate’s Degree in Applied Science from Idaho State University. Bret has more than 30 years of fire service experience beginning as a Firefighter with the City of Chubbuck Fire Department and later with Teton County Fire & Rescue as Deputy Fire Chief/Fire Marshal and as the Teton County Fire Chief. Bret’s professional affiliations include the Idaho Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators (past Chapter President 2020 – 2021), Idaho Fire Chief’s Association and Upper Snake River Interagency Wildfire Group.

Andrew N. Thomas: IAAI/CFI, NAFI/CFEI – Pocatello, ID

Andy Thomas has experience as an expert witness in a fire-related court proceeding. He is a Certified Fire Investigator through the International Association of Arson Investigators and a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator through the National Association Fire Investigators. He has 27 years of experience in fire and arson investigation and has conducted investigations in Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Ohio, and Michigan. Additionally, Andy retired as Detective Lieutenant of the Bannock County Sheriff’s Office, heading the department’s arson unit, after 31 years of progressive service. He was awarded a plaque of appreciation by the Idaho Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators and the United States Department of the Interior: Bureau of Land Management for the apprehension and conviction of a serial wildland arsonist.

Since 2016, Andy has worked in the private sector of fire investigations. He attended Idaho State University, where he later became an instructor in the College of Law Enforcement and taught classes in Crime Scene Investigation, Preservation and Collection of Evidence, Death Investigation, Fingerprinting, Auto Theft, and Fraud Investigation for 12 years. Andy is a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators and the National Association Fire Investigators.
