Andrew N. Thomas: IAAI/CFI, NAFI/CFEI – Pocatello, ID

Andy Thomas has experience as an expert witness in a fire-related court proceeding. He is a Certified Fire Investigator through the International Association of Arson Investigators and a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator through the National Association Fire Investigators. He has 27 years of experience in fire and arson investigation and has conducted investigations in Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Ohio, and Michigan. Additionally, Andy retired as Detective Lieutenant of the Bannock County Sheriff’s Office, heading the department’s arson unit, after 31 years of progressive service. He was awarded a plaque of appreciation by the Idaho Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators and the United States Department of the Interior: Bureau of Land Management for the apprehension and conviction of a serial wildland arsonist.

Since 2016, Andy has worked in the private sector of fire investigations. He attended Idaho State University, where he later became an instructor in the College of Law Enforcement and taught classes in Crime Scene Investigation, Preservation and Collection of Evidence, Death Investigation, Fingerprinting, Auto Theft, and Fraud Investigation for 12 years. Andy is a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators and the National Association Fire Investigators.
