MARK D. SULLIVAN: IAAI/CFI, NAFI/CFEI – Falmouth, MA

Mark Sullivan is a Certified Fire Investigator through the International Association of Arson Investigators and a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator through the National Association of Fire Investigators. Mark retired as Deputy Fire Chief of the Falmouth Fire Rescue Department, where he was responsible for investigating all fires that occurred within the community. Mark is also a retired Master Sergeant of the United States Air National Guard, formerly serving as Assistant Fire Chief of the 102nd Fighter Wing.

Mark has spent more than 25 years investigating the causes of fires, both in the public and private sector. He also has experience as an expert witness in fire-related court proceedings. Mark holds an Associate of Science degree in Fire Technology from Cape Cod Community College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Science from Anna Maria College.

 

MICHAEL E. HENNESSY: IAAI-CFI // NAFI-CFEI, CVFI – Director of Professional Development & Senior Fire Analyst – Woburn, MA

Mike Hennessy is a Certified Fire Investigator through the International Association of Arson Investigators and a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator and Certified Vehicle Fire Investigator through the National Association of Fire Investigators. He has been with NEFCO Fire Investigations since 1995 and was the first fire official in Massachusetts to become certified as a fire investigator by the International Association of Arson Investigators. Mike has testified at criminal and civil trials and completed hundreds of fire investigations over the course of his career. He has an Associate of Science in Fire Science from Middlesex Community College.

 

BRUCE W. MACKAY: IAAI-CFI – Sutton, MA

Bruce MacKay is a Certified Fire Investigator through the International Association of Arson Investigators. He has over 25 years of experience in the fire service with the Holden Fire Department. He is a court-qualified expert witness in the determination of fire origin and cause. With over 30 years of experience in the HVAC field, Bruce also offers a wealth of knowledge regarding electrical, heating, refrigeration, and ventilation equipment. He holds a certification as a Universal Technician for refrigerant transition and recovery.

 

JOHN J. MULCAHY: Professional Engineer – Beverly, MA

John Mulcahy, PE, is an electrical forensic engineer who holds a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Manhattan College. John is a licensed professional engineer. A court-qualified expert witness, he has over 30 years of experience in the engineering and fire investigation fields.

 

WILLIAM F. MCCARTHY: IAAI/CFI, NAFI/CFEI, Master Electrician – Boston, MA

Bill McCarthy is a Certified Fire Investigator through the International Association of Arson Investigators and a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator through the National Association of Fire Investigators. He is also a licensed Master Electrician in the State of Massachusetts. Bill has more than 40 years of experience in the fire service with the Boston Fire Department, retiring as Captain of the Fire Prevention Unit in 2021. He also worked as the owner of his own company, McCarthy Electrical, for nearly 35 years. Bill is a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators, the Massachusetts Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators, and the National Association of Fire Investigators.

 

SCOTT E. BORIS: NAFI-CFEI – Waterbury, CT

Scott Boris holds a master’s degree in fire science from the University of New Haven. An active lieutenant in the Bridgeport Fire Department, he is also a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator through the National Association of Fire Investigators. Scott is a court-qualified expert witness in the state of Connecticut, as well as an attendant of both the National Fire Academy and the International Association of Arson Investigators seminars.

 

WILLIAM G. BARABY: NAFI-CFEI, CVFI // Master Electrician – Lakes Region, NH

William Baraby is a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator and a Certified Vehicle Fire Investigator through the National Association of Fire Investigators. He retired as lieutenant and fire investigator from the Westport Fire Department in Massachusetts in 1999 after 21 years of service. He has served as an electrical investigator for the State Fire Marshal of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and is a licensed Master Electrician in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. William is a court-qualified expert witness in federal, superior, and district courts.

 

SEAN G. REDDY: IAAI-CFI // NAFI-CFEI, CVFI – Providence, RI

Sean Reddy is a Certified Fire Investigator through the International Association of Arson Investigators as well as a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator and Certified Vehicle Fire Investigator through the National Association of Fire Investigators. He has thirty years of experience in the fire service and recently retired after three decades with the City of Providence Fire Department.  During that time, Sean spent 7 years as the department’s senior arson investigator. Sean was a Task Force Officer for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and an certified Accelerant Detection K9 handler.  He also served as Rhode Island Assistant Deputy State Fire Marshal. Sean is a member of the National Association of Fire Investigators, the International Association of Arson Investigators, and the International Association of Fire Fighters.  He has been a court qualified expert in both state and federal court.

 

MICHAEL R. NOLAN: IAAI-CFI // NAFI-CVFI – Wakefield, RI

Michael Nolan currently serves as Vice President of Fire Operations for NEFCO. He earned his Criminal Justice degree at Roger Williams College and took additional coursework at the University of Rhode Island, leading to the successful completion of a two-semester course in Criminal Investigation and Scientific Evidence. In addition, Michael has participated in hundreds of hours of fire investigation training, which led to him becoming a Certified Fire Investigator through the International Association of Arson Investigators, as well as a Certified Vehicle Fire Investigator through the National Association of Fire Investigators. He has currently accumulated over 20 years of fire investigative experience between his law enforcement career and his work with NEFCO. Michael’s experience also includes volunteering as a firefighter with the Kingston Fire Department in Rhode Island and serving in the United States Army. He is also presently an instructor at the Institute of Fire Science.
