JOHN BATES: IAAI/FIT, NAFI/CFEI – Keene, NH

John has experience as an expert witness in a fire-related court case. He is a Certified Fire Investigator Technician through the International Association of Arson Investigators and a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator through the National Association of Fire Investigators. He is a Certified Hazardous Materials Technician and a Certified Fire Protection Specialist through the National Fire Protection Association. John has over 16 years’ experience as a fire investigator. He has been employed by the Keene Fire Department for the past 25 years serving in the positions of fire investigator, captain, fire alarm officer., and currently as fire prevention officer. His responsibilities include the coordination and execution of all fire prevention education programs within the city as well as lead fire investigator responsible for the department’s fire investigation team.

 

MICHAEL E. HENNESSY: IAAI-CFI // NAFI-CFEI, CVFI – Director of Professional Development & Senior Fire Analyst – Woburn, MA

Mike Hennessy is a Certified Fire Investigator through the International Association of Arson Investigators and a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator and Certified Vehicle Fire Investigator through the National Association of Fire Investigators. He has been with NEFCO Fire Investigations since 1995 and was the first fire official in Massachusetts to become certified as a fire investigator by the International Association of Arson Investigators. Mike has testified at criminal and civil trials and completed hundreds of fire investigations over the course of his career. He has an Associate of Science in Fire Science from Middlesex Community College.

 

GLENN C. BOWMAN: Electrical Engineer – Gardiner, ME

Glenn Bowman is an electrical engineer with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island. He has held memberships in the Maine Society of Professional Engineers, the Electric Council of New England, the National Fire Protection Association, and the Power Research Association at the University of Maine. Glenn is a court-qualified expert witness and has more than 40 years of experience in the engineering and fire investigation fields.

 

BRIAN K. SMITH: IAAI-CFI // NAFI-CVFI – Sanford, ME

Brian Smith is a Certified Fire Investigator through the International Association of Arson Investigators and a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator through the National Association of Fire Investigators. He has been involved with the fire service for over 30 years. As a captain in the Sanford Fire Department, Brian is constantly on the fire ground, both in a firefighting and investigating capacity. With participation from neighboring fire departments, he helped implement a mutual aid fire investigation team in York County, Maine, designed to assist surrounding communities with conducting detailed fire scene examinations. He furthers his education in fire science through coursework at Southern Maine Community College, as well as through continued education and participation in fire investigation-related seminars offered through the International Association of Arson Investigators, the National Association of Fire Investigators, and the National Fire Protection Association.

 

ROBERT DOWNS: NAFI/CFEI – Rochester, NH

Robert Downs is a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator through the National Association of Fire Investigators. He has over 20 years of experience in the fire industry in various positions, including his current position as a Lieutenant and Lead Fire Investigator for the City of Dover, NH. Robert is a court-qualified expert witness.
