EDWARD J. SIMONETTI: NAFI/CFEI – Port Jefferson, NY

Edward Simonetti is a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator through the National Association of Fire Investigators. He is currently the second assistant chief of the Terryville Fire Department where he has served over 29 years as a firefighter. Ed has more than 22 years of police service experience serving as both a police officer and a detective with the New York Police Department 28th Precinct. He was also as a detective with the New York Police Department Narcotics Division and the Arson & Explosion Squad. Prior to his retirement, Ed served on the New York City Joint Arson Task Force along with FDNY fire marshals and ATF agents who were responsible for investigating all federal and major state arson cases in New York City.

 

MARK L. FRAGOMENI: NAFI/CFEI – Albany, NY

Mark is a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator through the National Association of Fire Investigators. Mark has 28 years of experience in the fire service. Before retiring from Schenectady Fire Department in 2011, he had attained the rank of Deputy Chief and Director of Hazardous Materials & W.M.D. Mark has had extensive training in hazardous materials. He is currently pursuing his degree in Fire Administration from Empire State College.

 

ALLYN J. BORRINO: IAAI/CFI – Webster, NY

Al Borrino is a Certified Fire Investigator through the International Association of Arson Investigators, as well as a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators and the National Association of Fire Investigators. He was a New York State (NYS) Level II Certified Fire Investigator and a NYS Level II Certified Code Enforcement Official, Level I and II Certified Instructor, and Level I Certified Officer. In addition, Al was certified by the NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services as a General Topics Instructor and Fire Service Instructor

Al has more than 30 years of fire service experience, including working for the Rochester Fire Marshal’s Office from 2004 to 2011 supervising the Rochester Fire Department’s Code Enforcement Division. During the last five of those seven years, Al served as the unit commander of the department’s fire investigation unit and arson task force. Al retired from the Rochester Fire Department after 30 years of service. He is an experienced expert witness in fire-related court proceedings.

 

ROBERT A. AMMANN: IAAI/CFI,  NAFI/CFEI – Long Island, NY

Robert Ammann is a Certified Fire Investigator through the International Association of Arson Investigators, and a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator through the National Association of Fire Investigators. His fire service career spans 25 years in New York City and Nassau County. He retired as a fire marshal for the New York City Fire Department in 2006 and is a court-qualified expert witness. Bob has been a fire investigator in the private sector for over 12 years.

 

JOHN S. ANIELLO: IAAI/CFI, IAAI/FIT, NAFI/CFEI– South Salem, NY

John Aniello is a Certified Fire Investigator and a Certified Fire Investigation Technician through the International Association of Arson Investigators. He is also a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator through the National Association of Fire Investigators. John has over 16 years of experience in the fire service and has been a fire investigator with the Westchester County Cause & Origin Team since 2017. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Fire, Arson and Explosion Investigation from Eastern Kentucky University. John is an Electrical Unlimited Contractor through the State of Connecticut and a Certified Hazardous Materials Technician by the National Fire Protection Association.

 

SCOTT KUHLMEY: IAAI/CFI – Lancaster, NY

Scott Kuhlmey is a Certified Fire Investigator (CFI) through the International Association of Arson Investigators and is a New York State Certified Fire Investigator. He has over 35 years of fire service experience in various positions, including his current position as a Senior Fire Investigator with the Erie County Sheriff’s Office. Scott Kuhlmey is a court-qualified expert witness.

 

JEFF HARLOFF: IAAI/CFI, IAAI/FIT – Bloomfield, NY

Jeff Harloff is a Certified Fire Investigator and Certified Fire Investigation Technician through the International Association of Arson Investigators. He has over 20 years of experience as the Ontario County Senior Fire Investigator, as well as additional experience as a paramedic and private investigator. He is a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators, National Association of Fire Investigators, and National Fire Protection Association. Jeff is a court-qualified expert witness.

 

JOSEPH G. KOTORA SR.: IAAI/CFI,  NAFI/CFEI, CVFI, ASE Certified Mechanic – East Brunswick, NJ

Joseph Kotora is a Certified Fire Investigator through the International Association of Arson Investigators, and a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator and Certified Vehicle Fire Investigator through the National Association of Fire Investigators. Joseph is an active fire marshal for the Borough of Helmetta, NJ. With over 25 years of experience in the fire service, Joseph has received multiple commendations at the state and local level. Joseph is also an ASE Certified Mechanic through the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence. He holds licenses as a fire inspector, housing code official, fire protection official, and inspector of hotels and multiple dwellings. Joseph earned his bachelor of science degree in Industrial Education at Trenton State College. He is also a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators, the National Association of Fire Investigators, and the New Jersey State Fire Prevention Association.
